So, I am pretty sure that I am like any other college student out there- I live on Facebook. Sad as it is to say, I really do not know a life without it. I mean, how would I keep up with friends from home, or find out what time the next Zeta meeting is, or even keep up with what everyone is doing.

I was reading an article online about how Facebook is now making it easier to interact with brands. For all of those who use Facebook regurly, you know what it means to ‘like’ something or to ‘become a fan’ of a page or product. I found it interesting in the article that Facebook is trying to phase out the ‘Become a Fan’ option and just have people ‘Like” pages.

I think this is a great idea. The article also says that this will help people to link to each other more effectively. Now how that works, I am not 100% sure, but I know that I will see it happen, considering I am always on. I have already began to notice on my news feed home page that Facebook tells me when my friends find a page that they like. It’s so interesting to see what my friends are doing and what they like.

As I mentioned before.. what would I do without Facebook?

    I am the same way. I live on Facebook. If I am not on the computer, I am on my phone. I actually use Facebook more on my phone than anything else. I am interested too to see how this “like” thing goes. I am glad you brought it to my attention haha. I know that sometimes between the fan pages and the events and the groups I get a little lost so making it where it is just something that people “like” I think will be a lot easier. Let’s face it, Facebook is not what it once was. It has grown to middle schoolers and parents friend requesting us. I definitely agree the simpler the better. Great idea for a PR connection! You can talk about something that you love!

  2. I have to agree with you Lauren. It would be so weird to not have Facebook. I also keep up with friends and get notified about meetings I need to attend from different organizations. I have a photography business called Wphotography. I created a “fan” page or I guess now “like” page. But I am not sure I am okay with Facebook changing that aspect. I would rather have fans then likes… or maybe it just sounds better to me to have fans then likes… either way I do enjoy having customers, friends, and family be a part of Wphotography on Facebook.

  3. Using Facebook to market products is very smart- especially when it comes to reaching the target audience of young adults- since that is who usually using the Facebook platform. Making “fan groups” is a great way to sale a product. I’m a fan of victoria secret on Facebook and they post coupons, giveaways, and let members of the fan group know when there is going to be a sale. The fact that so many people are connected to facebook via their laptops and phones makes it so that people who use facebook are always connected to their brand. Facebook has become so much more than the college networking utility it started out as, and companies are reaping the benefits
